What is Concurrent Session Limit (IMAP/POP3/SMTP)

The concurrent session limit refers to the maximum number of simultaneous connections that can be established with your mail server via POP3, IMAP, or SMTP. This limit applies to all devices and email clients accessing the mailbox at the same time.

The number of concurrent sessions allowed for your domain depends on your subscribed plan. Contact the helpdesk team for further details.

If the concurrent session limit is reached, new connections may be temporarily rejected until an existing session ends. This may result in email clients failing to connect or delays in sending/receiving emails.

To ensure optimized session usage:

  • Configure your email clients to use IMAP instead of POP3, as POP3 may create additional sessions when checking for new mail.
  • Avoid setting email clients to check for new messages too frequently, as this can increase session usage.
  • Ensure a stable internet connection to prevent repeated disconnections and reconnections, which can increase session usage.
